As the year started, I was intimidated by the class due to what I have heard from other peers about the class. Through out the year I realized that Mr. Thomas was a great teacher and did everything he could so his students can learn the material. The class prepared me for school by making me prepared to overcome difficult obstacles that my classes offered. The class also helped me grow in life by helping me understand many morals and a new attitude for decision making.

The most difficult essay I did was the argumentative essay because of the extra material that has to be known in order to write a successful essay.

The easiest essay was the rhetorical essay because of the bare minimum material that has to be known in order to write a successful essay; and also I am very familiar with rhetorical devices.

The novel I enjoyed the most was The Things They Carry. It was my favorite because of the emotion and actions the soldiers. The novel brought many feelings of the soldiers in which they were similar and different.

Out of all of the novels there was never one I enjoyed the least. Besides The Things They Carry, the other novels were mutual to me.

I would like Mr. Thomas to know that he is a very successful teacher. The things that he is doing work very sufficiently for a student to pass the AP test

Thing I Carry

Physical Item: I have 2 physical items I always have to with me, and they are my phone and wallet. Without any of those items I feel lost. My phone is very important to me because I have a lot of things saved on my phone that are important and the music on my phone helps me get through long days. My wallet is important to me because it has all of my information and money; if I lost my wallet that would mean I would lose my debt card and my license, and I do not want to deal with the process to get a new debt card and license.

Dreams/Goals: My goal that I have always had and will keep, is to be successful and someone in life. This goal drives me to do good in school so I can get into a good college with a well known Engineering School. Once I get to college I will try really hard so my future engineering career will take off.

Relationship: A very special relationship I have is with my parents. They have always been there for me and always be there for me. I've learned a lot from my parents and some of the things I've learned makes up who I am today. Both of my parents give me inspiration in life to follow their footsteps to success.

Personality: 3 adjectives I would describe myself as are: dominant, loud, and happy. Many people would agree with those adjectives due to how I am. I do not want to be like anyone else because I am happy with who I am, and I prefer to do my own thing.

Memory(ies): Many memories that I keep hold are my mistakes. I like to keep my mistakes in my memory because I look back and learn from it, so I make sure to prevent the same mistake. I also keep hold of memories of good times I've had with people that I am close with. I do this because I like to reminisce of all the times I've enjoyed that might not happen again.

Teenagers around the United States are trying to figure out who they are. At the same time, teenagers are respecting their parents culture and values.  It is hard to follow parents culture and values due to teens are growing up and are growing their own opinions from life around.

Ways I respect my parents' values are by following their rules, listen to what they have to say, and trying to stay away from trouble. At the end of the day all an individual has to depend on is family because family will always be there for you. Individuals feel a closeness when they are with family.

Ways I try to find my own identity are by staying with my word, listening to artist with similar interest, and by doing what I feel is right. By doing all three I feel that I am finding myself and connecting more with myself. It is very important to do what feels right.

Teenager have to listen and respect their parents, but at the same time they have to find out who they really are, even if it involves doing uncomfortable things around strangers. Find yourself is one important thing everyone must do in their lifetime.  Being yourself is a key thing to a happy life.

A Haunted Story

Edgar Allen Poe might be considered as the father of horror stories. "Fall of the House of Usher" demonstrated Poe's unique and original techniques that he used to make a frightful story. Poe uses personification of the haunted house, imagery, resurrection, perverse sexual behaviors, and suspension.

Personification is a big role of the story due to the House being represented with a human-like soul. It leads ti suspense because it leaves a reader wondering. Both suspense and personification tie in with each other due both are connected with the horror. Both techniques have been copied in almost every horror movie that has been made.

Imagery also plays a big role, and deals with resurrection and perverse sexual behaviors. The imagery gives off that horrific image in a reader's mind. Poe's original techniques give the reader vivid imagery due to the detail of the resurrection and the perverse behavior. Many of these techniques have also been copied off in multiple horror movies.

If I made a horror movie or novel I would use many of Poe's techniques due to having such success with a feeling of horror. Many works of the current time reflect Poe's work. Poe created techniques that will always be used in horror stories.

Martin Luther King Jr Changing America

Martin Luther King Jr was a hero that changed the views of America. King made America united rather than separated ethnically. Certain Individuals view King's ideas as wrongful, due to people not wanting to associate with other people of different ethnicities. Appreciating King as hero is something America will do as time keeps going.

Martin Luther King Jr just wanted to see America together rather than people hating on each other. King's death was caused due to an individual strongly disagreeing with King. That individual viewed King's ideas as wrongful. Luckily, King changed America due to many people not following him.

America could of possibly been a country where individuals lived separately ethnically. King made it possible for America to be a strong union. King's ideas saved America's future, which would have been a place where people living in America would be terrorized daily.

Thanks to Martin Luther King Jr, America is now a country where people of different race classes live together happily. If America was the same people would be hating each other rather than being together. King's ideas being ridiculed pushed King to establish what he viewed America as a strong union.

          Beatlejuice and Ichabod Crane

Both Beattlejuice and Ichabod Crane are both the anti heroes in their stories due to both being the central character but both lack the conventional heroic attributes of a hero. Both Beattlejuice and Ichabod both carry the characteristics of only caring about their own feelings and being inconsiderate of others.

Beatlejuice is only trying to free his ghostly spirit so that he can perform his job of scaring off the instructors even if it means making unfulfilling promises to others just to get what he wants. Ichabod as well shows that he does regard anybody's feelings, by taking advantage of families by getting out free meals from families when he ever wants. As well trying to convince Katrina that he is interested in being her husband but in reality he is only interested un her father's money.

With both of them being inconsiderate of others, they both don't get to fulfill their plan for Beatlejuice does not achieve his plan of trying to be set free and rack havoc on whoever he pleases. Ichabod does not get to become Katrina's husband due to him only interested  in his own plan, which causes him to not pay attention to Broom Bones's stories and in the end causes him to lose his life.

This shows that both of the characters are willing to give people false hope, just to get what the desire most.  Although in the end they both end up coming up short.
